The BushBaby Foundation aims bridge the gap between the haves and have nots by making available services that would ordinarily be out of the reach of most Zambians.

In a powerful demonstration of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and inter-organizational collaboration, Oval Mining, in partnership with Cooperlemon Consultancy Limited and The Bushbaby Foundation, has taken a significant step toward improving public safety and police accessibility in Kanakantapa, Zambia.

Mining activities, while essential for economic development, have occasionally posed challenges to nearby communities, including structural damage to homes due to vibrations and air blasts from blasting operations. In line with its mission to support vulnerable communities and safeguard the wellbeing of local residents, The Bushbaby Foundation played an instrumental role in facilitating swift repairs to homes affected by such mining impacts in Kanakantapa Resettlement.

On Monday, March 5th, 2024, The Bushbaby Foundation proudly participated in Zambia’s first-ever commemoration of Global Children’s Surgery Day, a global movement initially launched on February 26th, 2024. This significant milestone event was hosted by the Zambia Association for Paediatric Surgeons at the University of Zambia and brought national attention to the urgent paediatric surgical care challenges facing Zambia.

In late 2023, Zambia faced a devastating surge in cholera infections, with Lusaka and surrounding districts like Chongwe at the center of the crisis. By early 2024, the country had reported over 16,400 confirmed cases and more than 600 deaths, placing the national fatality rate at 3.9%—alarmingly higher than the global average.

On the warm and sunny afternoon of December 24th, the school grounds of Evergreen School buzzed with excitement as children from Kanakantapa gathered for a special Christmas lunch event organized by Power Divine Mission, Bush baby Foundation, Cooperlemon Consultancy and Oval Mining.

The Bushbaby Foundation was made aware of the desperate situation of the Children of the D Block ward at The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) who had been on a 2500 patient list awaiting life changing surgical procedures.

I come from a long line of pioneering women with my grandmother being the first girl to make it to Chipembi Girls Secondary School in 1957, hailing from the humble villages in the highlands of Monze and my mother was the first female radio Disk Jocky (DJ) with Radio Phoenix and 5Fm where she took the air-waves by storm with her charismatic sound going by her famous name ‘The Black Mama Jamma’.

In a remarkable collaborative effort, African Pioneer and FQM embarked on a mission to revive exploration in Mwinilunga, Zambia, with a broader vision to catalyze community development in four crucial chiefdoms: Kanongesha, Sialunga, Chibwika, and Kanyama.
