The Bushbaby Foundation was made aware of the desperate situation of the Children of the D Block ward at The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) who had been on a 2500 patient list awaiting life changing surgical procedures.

The story of our interest takes us to a small community school in the Village of Kaindu on the outskirts of the Mumbwa Boma. This little community school is located within the area covered by the large-scale exploration license held by Oval Mining Limited.

I come from a long line of pioneering women with my grandmother being the first girl to make it to Chipembi Girls Secondary School in 1957, hailing from the humble villages in the highlands of Monze and my mother was the first female radio Disk Jocky (DJ) with Radio Phoenix and 5Fm where she took the air-waves by storm with her charismatic sound going by her famous name ‘The Black Mama Jamma’.
