The Bushbaby Foundation is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring dignity, hope, and opportunity to some of Zambia’s most vulnerable communities. Founded on compassion and Christian values, we exist to bridge the gap for children, families, and communities in need—ensuring that no one is left behind.
Our work reaches across education, health, human rights, child protection, water and sanitation, gender equality, and advocacy against child marriage. Each initiative is carefully designed to empower individuals and create long-lasting impact.

A Zambia where all children are safe, all families have access to basic human rights, and all communities can build brighter, self-sustaining futures.
Our Core Focus Areas
- Education – Supporting rural schools with resources, training, and opportunities to unlock the potential of young learners.
- WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) – Improving community health by providing clean water, proper sanitation, and awareness programs.
- Human Rights & Child Protection – Safeguarding children and vulnerable groups through advocacy, awareness, and intervention.
- Gender Equality – Promoting equal opportunities for women and girls to break cycles of poverty and inequality.
- Ending Child Marriage – Actively campaigning, sensitizing, and empowering families and communities to protect girls from early and forced marriages.

The Children at UTH’s D-Block Ward
At the University Teaching Hospital (UTH), children in the D-Block Ward faced unimaginable hardship, with poor facilities and limited care. The Bushbaby Foundation intervened by raising awareness, mobilizing resources, and bringing critical support to restore dignity and hope to these young patients.

Causes You Care About!
Mining activities, while essential for economic development, have occasionally posed challenges to nearby communities, including structural damage to homes due to vibrations and air blasts from blasting operations.
On Monday, March 5th, 2024, The Bushbaby Foundation proudly participated in Zambia’s first-ever commemoration of Global Children’s Surgery Day, a global movement initially launched on February 26th, 2024.
In late 2023, Zambia faced a devastating surge in cholera infections, with Lusaka and surrounding districts like Chongwe at the center of the crisis.
Everybody can contribute to social change if they put their mind to it. BushBaby Foundation gives individuals in urban geographies an opportunity to contribute to development in rural Zambia through their knowledge, skills and time. Our aim is to catalyse these synergies, and create meaningful engagements for those who want to play a part in doing their bit for society.
We welcome dialogue and collaborations across organisations and individuals, to help us in our mission to bridge the gap between the haves and have nots.
